ABOUT US |

Dixie and Doreen with Lou Thompson, president of NIRI national. |
Communica
is a team of senior-level executives, led by Doreen
Lubeck and Dixie Watterson.
Our skills spring from more than 25 years of corporate and agency
experience, leadership
positions in professional organizations and - perhaps
most valuable - lots of practice helping clients achieve their goals. With
Communica, you work directly with the people you hire.
No first-drafts by an assistant account executive.
No expensive rewrites by a mid-level manager.
We're
proud that most of our clients come from referrals - people who know our
work on a first-hand basis. We
listen. And we do have
opinions, which we'll share with you.
At
the end of the day, though, it's your vision that should be realized.
It's our mission - and our great satisfaction - to help you get
there. Before
starting her own business in 1995, Doreen Lubeck was vice president of
corporate communications and investor relations for Equity Group
Investments, Inc., Sam Zell's holding company.
While with Zell's company, she acted as the corporate
communications/IRO for two companies in the portfolio - American Classic
Voyages Co., a cruise line, and Capsure Holdings Corp., an insurance
company. Earlier,
Doreen developed Edelman Public Relations Worldwide's Chicago IR practice
and managed the agency's two largest corporate accounts. She has also been with Burson-Marsteller Inc. and Georgeson
and Company Inc. As
a strategist, she has guided senior management on key issues.
She is recognized for her skills in writing annual reports, slide
presentations, corporate brochures and fact/press kits; developing and
implementing corporate communications and investor relations programs;
conducting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research;
coordinating road shows and special events; participating in initial
public offerings; and providing counsel and training in times of crisis.
Doreen
is a past president and board member of the National Investor Relations
Institute's Chicago chapter. A
passion for the stock market and the "personality" of companies
led naturally to a career in investor relations and corporate
communications for Dixie Watterson. Before
starting her own business, she was executive vice president/chief
operating officer for a Chicago area investor relations firm. Rapid agency growth under her leadership led to a partnership
stake in the company. She has
also been a vice president with Fleishman-Hillard, the major international
communications firm. She
gained sales, marketing and stock market skills during two years at
Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant.
She also taught managerial finance to college-level juniors and
seniors at the University of South Dakota.
She
has been a speaker and panelist on marketing topics.
In addition to teaching seminars for NIRI, the investor relations
professional organization, she has been an officer and board member in the
Chicago chapter. She is
currently a board member of the Independent Writers of Chicago. Dixie majored in English at Northwestern University and has an M.B.A. emphasizing finance from the University of South Dakota. While there, she belonged to Beta Gamma Sigma business school honorary and wrote a thesis analyzing Benjamin Graham's approach to value investing. |
